This community engagement project was a collaboration with my dear friend Yvette Roman created to help people process their difficult emotions surrounding the pandemic and reconnect. It was created for the Park Social Initiative. Woven zarape style picnic blankets were made during workshops with clothing collected from the community. Words describing emotions felt during the pandemic were collected from residents and stamped onto fabric during workshops. A picnic was held as a final celebration of the project where people could lay on the blankets and go into a dome to process the words and emotions shared by the community leading to empathy and connection.
